Every portrait produced by Stately Vows is generated by AI image-generation models, conditioned on the reference photographs you upload. The portraits are not photographs — they are AI-generated artworks that resemble you and your partner.

What we use

Our portraits are generated using a state-of-the-art third-party AI image model. When you upload photos, we also run a brief automated visual analysis using a third-party vision model to describe the subjects so the generation preserves your features more faithfully. After a portrait is generated, we run an automated quality check that compares it to your reference photos using a third-party vision model, so we can catch and regenerate portraits that don't look enough like you before you see them. The optional “Lock my faces” refinement uses the same image model. We do not use your photos to train any model.

Identity preservation

Every style pack includes a universal two-subject addendum that instructs the model to preserve the individual facial identity of each partner. We never average your features, swap your faces, or merge your identities into a generic “AI couple.”

Limitations

AI image generation is imperfect. You may see hands with extra fingers, slightly off-kilter jewelry, anachronistic props, or moments where the style's costume accuracy doesn't quite hold. We include several preview variants per session and free regenerations specifically to handle these cases.

Your photos

When you upload a photo, it is resized in your browser before it leaves your device; this client-side re-encoding removes embedded EXIF metadata (including any GPS location) from the image we receive. Your reference photos are not stored on Stately Vows servers. They are transmitted directly to our AI processing partners — one to generate your portraits, and one to run the automated quality check described above — and are not retained by us after the request completes. Under those partners' API data policies as represented to us, API inputs are retained for a limited period (currently up to 30 days) for abuse monitoring and are not used to train their models. The AI portraits we generate for you are stored in private, access-controlled storage so you can return to them; temporary working copies are automatically purged.

How AI-generated images are marked

Free preview downloads carry a visible “AI-Generated · Stately Vows” mark. All images produced by the service are AI-generated; please represent them as such when you share them.
